Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up in a multiethnic household. Her father, Elroy Fernandez is a an Sri Lankan. There are two older brothers and two younger brothers. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents relocated to Bahrain in the 80s due to the civil war in Sri Lanka. She was given a scholarship to go to in the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia after she had completed her education in Bahrain. The love of the languages and culture inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz Language School, a school in which she mastered French as well as Arabic as she learned Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and participated in Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone started her career in the world of television. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on the business of Sri Lanka. Padukone (the child of badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager she played in national championships of badminton at both the regional and international and international levels. But, she resigned from the sport in order to pursue a career as a fashion designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin and her native language is Konkani. Her family ancestors are from the town of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state in India. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother is a travel agent.
